Robinson Library Goals and Objectives
Goals
1. To help students master the fundamental skills of reading, listening,
viewing, writing, mathematics, the sciences, and a basic understanding of the
arts, and to think creatively and speculatively in an atmosphere of free
inquiry.
2. To help each student become aware of and to understand the many varieties of
cultures in today's world, to relate positively to the diverse people in the
community, and to contribute to and refine his or her own cultural patterns.
3. To help students think critically and independently, define issues with
clarity, ask searching and relevant questions, and be skilled, objective, and
thorough in finding and evaluating information.
Objectives
1. To select, acquire, organize and make accessible, adequate and appropriate
instructional materials (print, non-print, audio-visual, web-based and
electronic) to support the educational program of the school.
2. To guide students in their choice of the materials of learning desired both
for personal and curricular purposes.
3. To provide materials and reference services for the completion of class
assignments and for individual personal growth.
4. To provide instruction to students in information literacy skills which
enable them to retrieve information, select appropriate sources, and
communicated ideas.
5. To provide a facility that is kept an attractive and comfortable place to
study and read or work on library needs, and functions as an information center
for the school.
6. To ensure through the encouragement of good citizenship, the respect and
consideration of all library users.
7. To work and communicate cooperatively and constructively with the
instructional and administrative staffs of the schools.
8. To provide a planned purposeful, and educationally significant program which
will be integrated appropriately with the classroom teaching and learning
program.
