Independent Use of the Media Center

The Richard J. Robinson Library provides students with the opportunity to understand social responsibility by guiding them to appropriate behavior in the library environment.

All MMHS students are encouraged to use the library for specific work.  It is not a place for conversation.  All students are expected to be purposeful and focus on an assigned task, use research time in the library wisely, interact cooperatively with other students, classroom teachers and library staff, and follow school rules and library procedures.  Students who insist upon talking or disregarding other criteria for success will may lose library privileges during study halls.

High school students will access the library from study hall via their (required) purple library card.  Each study hall may send up to 8 students to the library per period.  Study teachers may always call the library at 325 or 326 to make special requests.

Each high school academic class may send 1-3 students at a time on a blue corridor pass to the library to pursue work specific to that class.

Each middle school class or study may send 1-3 students at a time signed out on their MS agendas.

High School and Middle School class visits are a priority and scheduled by teachers throughout the week.   Library staff will occasionally need to reduce student access to the library from study halls when class visits are scheduled to accommodate the instructional learning objectives and academic performance of the scheduled class visit.

Overdue Books - Borrowing library materials is a privilege; returning them is a responsibility as well as an act of courtesy to others who may need the materials.

  • Students borrowing library books are responsible for returning and/or replacing materials charged to his/her name.
  • Overdue notices are delivered to students in homerooms.
  • Outstanding obligations will result in borrowing privileges being withdrawn
  • Outstanding obligations at the end of the year will interrupt the issuing of the student's schedule for the next year. Seniors will have their diplomas withheld until the obligation is cleared.

Purchase Requests - Students and Faculty are encouraged to make suggestions for the purchase of books, periodicals and materials for the Media Center. These suggestions will be given serious consideration within the confines of the budget available.

Photo Copy Machine - A photocopy machine for students and faculty is available
