Nature's Classroom

Dear Families of 5th graders,

Each year, our 5th grade students attend Nature’s Classroom for 3 nights/4 days.  Nature’s Classroom is a residential environmental education program, with 13 sites across New England.  At Nature's Classroom, students and teachers are given the chance to experience education from another perspective, outside the walls of the classroom.

This year, our students will be attending the Nature’s (Outdoor) Classroom will be in Cape Cod, MA.  This site offers the best of both worlds with a forest setting on a lake, and a trip to the beach one of the days.  Students sleep in dorm style buildings, with 3 - 5 other students, in bunk beds and eat 3 meals each day in the main dining hall.  Each dorm is chaperoned by teachers, staff, and parents who have passed their CORI.  If you would be interested in being a chaperone, please reach out to your child’s 5th grade teacher once the year begins.

Our dates for participation this year are October 13-16.  This time of year should offer beautiful foliage and crisp fall weather to enjoy.

Information was sent out.  In the meantime, we want to make sure that you know the dates ahead of time for planning.  Other considerations are also to provide your child with the opportunity to sleep away from home before this trip if they have not already done so.  Students are not able to bring phones or other devices on this trip, so if they use one to sleep, this may be something to also address before attending Nature’s Classroom.

We hope you have a wonderful summer!
