Update

Dear Students, Staff and Families,

We have good news! The crews have worked diligently through the weekend to complete all necessary repairs to the Murdock building, so that final air quality tests could be conducted this past Monday.  We have received the results from Monday’s air quality test showing the building is fit for occupancy. EnvironMed Services Inc. conducted air quality samples throughout both the middle and high school. Those samples were sent to Hayes Microbial Consulting, and the results state the building is a PASS for safe occupancy on all samples.

Attached are the air quality tests results from December 4th, 2023. As you will see on these results, the normal range for each type of particle is listed, and the results of the air samples reveal that all particle levels are in the normal range. It is important to share that air quality samples have been taken periodically throughout this process and have progressively gotten better.

While the building air quality is safe and the building is clean, the gymnasium will remain closed through the month of December to allow for the proper cleaning of this large space.  The gymnasium has its own HVAC system which has already been cleaned; however, the beams and walls in the space still need to be cleaned. The doors of the gymnasium are sealed, and the construction crew will be monitored by school facilities staff during this process.

We plan to reopen both Murdock Middle and High school on Thursday, December 7, 2023, returning to normal school hours for students, 7:30 to 2:05.  Murdock Academy for Success and Dual Enrollment students will also return to the high school building on Thursday, December 7, 2023, returning to normal school hours.

We are also pleased to share that the fire alarm panel has been replaced and is functioning.

During this crisis, the community at large, administrators, staff, facilities, cafeteria and bus company have worked seamlessly as a united team to ensure that the relocation of our Murdock student body went smoothly.   We could not have done this relocation without the help from the Gardner Public School District and the Cornerstone Church.  We are grateful for everyone involved in this unexpected event.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding during these past few weeks.

Sincerely,

Dr. Goguen
